On the morning of October 31st, the Youth League branch of Class 4, Clinical Medicine, Class of 2023, School of Medicine, held a themed Youth League Day activity entitled “Inheriting the Spirit of Medicine and Embracing the Original Aspiration, Youthfully Embracing Medical Responsibilities” at the Sunshine Service Center. University Party Secretary Dai Aiguo, the leadership team of the School of Medicine, and all students participated in the activity.

At the beginning of the event, five members of the college’s Youth League branch presented a recitation of the classic Chinese text, “The Flame of Hunan Medicine Illuminates the Mountains and Rivers.” Their impassioned tone and sincere emotions vividly demonstrated the spirit of Hunan medical practitioners, allowing the teachers and students present to deeply feel the profound significance of traditional Chinese medicine culture and the mission of medical professionals.
Dai Aiguo listened patiently to each student’s question and answered them meticulously one by one. Addressing the pressure students commonly face from “pursuing all-around excellence,” he shared his long-held philosophy that “the pursuit of excellence is a never-ending journey.” He emphasized that excellence doesn’t require dabbling in every field and becoming a “generalist,” but rather continuously cultivating expertise in one’s passion and becoming a “specialist.” He encouraged everyone to identify their true interests and potential in their studies, research, and internships, focusing their energy on core areas and replacing aimless busyness with precise effort to achieve more efficient growth.
